Kemp researched the Weston and Gauley Bridge Turnpike for the USACE. In addition, the IHTIA surveyed the preservation needs of the historic Staunton-Parkersburg Turnpike on behalf of the Staunton-Parkersburg Turnpike Alliance. This box contains Kemp's research materials, including typed and handwritten notes, correspondence, and technical manuals. The box also includes facsimiles of the following: book excerpts, maps, correspondence, reports, financial statements, and clippings. Subjects include the Weston and Gauley Bridge Turnpike in Burnsville, Braxton County, West Virginia; the Staunton-Parkersburg Turnpike in Staunton, Virginia and Parkersburg, Wood County, West Virginia; Burnsville Reservoir in Burnsville, Braxton County, West Virginia; Bulltown Historic District, Braxton County, West Virginia; the Virginia Board of Public Works; and bridge construction. The following oversize item was moved to Map Cabinet 12, Drawer 14, Folder 6: one map (undated).
