Encloses a copy of a communication from residents of the District of Colombia to Johnson, signed by many residents; believes he can rally the people to support him. Cy of ALS. Including ALS, Native and Naturalized Citizens of the United States resident in Washington City and Georgetown, Washington City, D.C., to Andrew Johnson, President of the United States. 29 September 1867. Appreciates his efforts "...to maintain the Supremacy of the Federal Constitution..."; naturalized citizens especially are aware of teh dangerous threats along "know-nothing" lines which threaten their liberties; must guard against Congress seizing supreme power; says hopes are in him to protect freedoms. 9 pp. Also including a copy of some of the names of people who signed the petition. 2 pp.
