Thank you very much for the soap¦we are trying to make lye¦œI bought some green apples to bake to help out vegetables which are very scarce now. Yesterday morning Mr. Bill Smith, from the Harding Callum's Store, was murdered for the little money kept there. The police have named a suspect, a œwhite man named Birch, and they are working to arrest him. However, one of Mr. Wilson's servants [an African-American man] is the witness, and œI do not know if colored evidence will be taken now against a white man. 2 pages and 3 page partial typescript included.
