Writes in reply to the letter she wrote to his father, who is too ill to reply himself; would have written sooner except that he expected to get information from relatives during a visit to Mobile, [Tenn.]; is sorry that he cannot giver her any information that would be helpful for her book; has fragments of the Rev[erend] Peter Fontaine's will; the original copy of the document is on file in V[irgini]a; details of the will; Dr. Hawks has the jurnal of a son of the Huguenot who was sent to V[irgini]a to prepare for the rest of the family's arrival; suggests that it would be an interesting addition to her work; their family is very pleased with the book; bought many copies of the first edition to distribute to family members; is glad there will be a second edition; suggests that she include the entire translation of the manuscript of Edmund Fontaine; can provide her with a list of the descendants of the Reverend Peter Fontaine; will be glad to get the book to members of the family; gives address where he can be reached. 4pp ALS
