1908 Fifty Cent Piece

Scope and Contents

1-copper fifty cent piece the front of which features Liberty's head in the center. "IN GOD WE TRUST" is inscribed in raised letters above Liberty's head 1908" is inscribed in raised numbers below her head. There are six stars on the left side of the front of the coin and seven on the right side of the front, making a total of thirteen. On the back of the coin the eagle of the Great Seal of the United States is depicted. There are thirteen stars above his head. "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" is inscribed in an arch at the top of the back of the coin. "HALF DOLLAR" is inscribed on the bottom of the back of the coin. The coin was given to Armand Galfo for a speech at the PTA at the dedication of new jr.-sr. High School at Woodlawn Beach, 4th grade 1935. The coin measures approximately 1.125in. and is in fair condition. many of the the letters, numbers and images are worn smooth and there is discoloration all around the coin.
