Scope and content:

Correspondence as Chairman of the APVA Capitol Committee and member of the Advisory Committee of Architects about reconstruction of the Capitol Building in Williamsburg, Virginia. Includes carbon copies of most of his letters along with the originals of letters he received plus reports by, minutes for and decisions of both committees. Most of the correspondents are either members of the APVA Capitol Committee or the Advisory Committee of Architects, a committee formed by the Williamsburg Restoration, Inc. Subjects range from roof lines, location of main entrance and type of brick for the reconstruction of the Capitol. Members of the APVA Capitol Committee included Col. Samuel H. Yonge, Robert Lancaster, George P. Coleman, John Stewart Bryan and Earl Gregg Swem. Members of the Advisory Committee of Architects included Edmund S. Campbell, W. Duncan Lee, Robert Lee Taylor, Laurence Kocher, Robert P. Bellows, D. Everett Wade, Marcellus Wright, Thomas Tallmadge, Fiske Kimball, Earl Gregg Swem, Dr. W.A.R. Goodwin, William S. Perry and Andrew H. Hepburn.
