May Fete and Commencement

Scope and content:

This video recording was digitized from a film featuring a May Fete (or festival) and Commencement celebrations. Included are various images of women in flowing gowns and Greek costumes. The film was believed to be at the College of William and Mary, but a sign for Centenary Junior College appears in the background in one of the shots. Librarians from Centenary College identified the film in October 2011 as being entirely shot at Centenary College. One of the students in the film was identified as Centenary alumnus Betty Cooper, a former Miss America. The film was digitized by Safe Sound Archive in March 2011. One 16mm, 100 foot long color film. It is in good condition and is approximately 3 minutes, 42 seconds. This film has been digitized and can be viewed through the William & Mary Digital Archive. A DVD of this film was made in March 2011 and is available in the DVD series of this collection. Acc. 2010.149
