Fencing Championships First Place Plaque

Scope and content:

Scope and Contents 1-plaque in the shape of the state of Virginia. There is an outer wooden part and an inner part that is golden. On the golden part there is an engraved circle enclosing an engraved picture of the Cardinal perched on a Dogwood branch. Above the bird "VIRGINIA" is engraved and below the bird "AIAW" is engraved. Below the circle "1978-79/ FENCING CHAMPIONSHIP/ FIRST PLACE" is engraved. On the back of the plaque is a hook hole by which the plaque can be hung on a wall. Beneath the hook hole are two holes. The plaque measures approximately 12in. (length) x 7in. (width) and is in good condition. There are numerous scratches along with dust on the golden part of the plaque and numerous scratches around the wooden part of the plaque. Transferred by the Tribe Athletics Department. EDU2014.005
