Replica KGB ID

Scope and content:

Scope and Contents A burgundy replica KGB ID that features "KGB" in Cyrillic printed in gold in the center and a Soviet coat of arms depicted in gold above it on the front. The internal left panel contains "CCCP" at the top center with two stars on both sides. This acronym stands for the Russian equivalent of USSR/Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. The interior left panel also contains the inscription "Komitet Gosudarstvennoj Bezopasnosti " (State Security Committee/KGB), "Spetzgroupa 'ABC' " (special task force, literally "special group"), "Identification Number 007," "Hoolia Hoont (name of the ID holder), a Russian term that would not be found on an authentic KGB ID, and "Vice-Chairman of KGB USSR" all in Cyrillic. The internal right panel contains CCCP above a double line with one star on each side of the word. It also contains "Valid after 31 December 199… year," in Cyrillic with the last digit of the "199..." not filled out. The replica ID is approximately 3.5in. (length) x 2.5in.(width) and is in excellent condition. Donated by Susan Schmierer received by Amy Schindler. UA 2014.01
