Yorktown Sesquicentennial Commemorative Medal

Scope and Contents Bronze medal worn at the 1931 sesquicentennial commemoration of the surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown with red, white, and blue ribbon and nameplate. The obverse shows the Yorktown Memorial Structure and is surrounded by the words "United States & Yorktown Sesquicentennial Commission." The reverse reads "1781-Yorktown-1931-Oct 16-19- Sesquicentennial Celebration-Commemorating the Surrender of Lord Cornwallis" with 13 stars surrounded some of the lettering. Medal measures 1 1/2'' (diameter) not including ribbon or nameplate. Good condition although some oxidiation and grime are apparent on both sides, in particular around the lettering.
