[1906 November 5] Booth Tarkington, Champigny-sur-Marne, France, to [Frederick A.] Duneka, writes "On receipt of your letter stating that you thought it better not to use "His Own People" in the mag. but would print it in the Weekly I cabled you (Harpers) to return the mss to me. This was because I felt that to place the story in the Weekly would do neither you & the Weekly nor the story and me any good; might work a contrary effect in fact." Tarkington goes on to explain his reasoning about the story. He also asks if he is going to reprint James De Mille's Castle in Spain as he did the others.
