Robert Cantrell papers, 1807/1989

Scope and content:

This collection consists of correspondence and papers related to a proposed book on the history of the health sciences at UVA, as well as documents and publications concerning the history of the School of Medicine and UVA Medical Center, including a copy of the 1986 deed of gift for the Dunglison cup (and information on the cup's provenance), a transcript of an 1807 letter from Thomas Jefferson to Dr. Caspar Wistar, UVA Health Sciences Council By-Laws, and photographs of UVA.

Custodial history:

The materials were transferred from Dr. Cantrell's office during his tenure as Vice President and Provost of Health Sciences at UVA to the Claude Moore Health Sciences Library on 1997-04-22.
