Correspondents, chiefly with William F. Wickham, include: Carter Berkeley, Carter Braxton, Roger Mallory, Thomas Nelson, and William F. Wickham to Thomas B. Coleman. Roger Mallory, the jailor in Petersburg, Virginia, writes concerning a runaway enslaved man named Jim who finally admitted he belonged to William F. Wickham. Jim had originally claimed to belong to Price Sharpe who was charged with permitting him to "go at large contrary to law," and hire himself out, March 19, 1827.
