It contains portraits of Tsar Nikolai I of Russia in uniform, decorated with various orders of knighthood, and his wife, the Tsarina Aleksandra Feodorovna who also wears one of the star orders of the Empire. Each of the sovereigns is portrayed wearing the blue ribbon of the Order of St. Andrew. Finely executed, these are set off by interior oval frames in the manner of the border.
