Transcription: [double-headed eagle] Article No. RH-5408/11 Miniature jeweled flower fantasy representing a rose plant imbedded in gold soil within a pot of grey-brown agate, banded in gold. Bud-like blossoms of quartz surmount slender stalks of gold, realistically modeled in detail with thorns along their length. Myriad small leaves in Siberian nephrite point upwards or cluster on drooping stems at the top of the container. The little jeweled object, created by Carl Fabergé, eminent jeweler at the court of St. Petersburg, is fully hallmarked with his name; the initials of one of his ablest artists, Henrik Wigstroem; and the numeral "72" denoting the Russian equivalent of 18kt. gold. From the collection of a member of the Russian Imperial Family. Mrs. John L. Pratt February 24, 1939 FROM THE HAMMER COLLECTION – 682 FIFTH AVENUE – NEW YORK
