Scope and content:

Transcription: [double-headed eagle] Article No. E-517/4 Cross of hand-wrought silver, finished with a ball effect to represent jewels; Russian workmanship of the 18th century. On the face is the eight point Greek Orthodox cross, adorned with the crown of thorns. On either side is the spear and sponge of the Crucifixion, while below is the skull signifying that Christ conquered Death. The Slavic symbols read – "King of Glory, Jesus Christ, son of God". The reverse side is in scroll design. From the Imperial Chapel of the Feodorovski Cathedral, Tsarskoye Selo.
