Transcription: [double-headed eagle] The Schaffer Collection of Russian Imperial Art Treasures ROCKEFELLER CENTER, NEW YORK September 30, 1935 #888 Very unusual penholder of the Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna, constructed of a brilliant shaft of lapis lazuli mounted in gold and picked out with a conventionalized chasing. The top is set with the seal of the Empress, consisting of her monogram "MF" surmounted by crown, and is engraved in a round, milky-colored agate. It is a fine example of the work of "Carl Fabergé", the famous court jeweler to the Russian Imperial family, and who is often referred to as the "Cellini" of the 19th century. From the Winter Palace.
