Mrs. John L. Pratt P. O. Box 118 Fredericksburg, Virginia
Dear Mrs. Pratt:
The man who bought the Faberge Easter Egg which you always said you should have bought and which you didn't because I discouraged you, was in today. He wants to sell the Egg for $12,000.00, federal tax included.
He claims that someone else also wants to buy the Egg, so I decided to let you know at once in case you are interested. He is not in need of money so I think you could have about six months in which to pay for it.
Please do not misunderstand me - I don't want to be a salesman in this case but you did mention several times how sorry you were that you didn't buy it. Therefore, I do want you to have a chance to do so if you are still interested.
With kindest regards and best wishes, I am, Sincerely,
Alexander S. Schaffer [signed] Alexander S. Schaffer
