Collette V. Fournier and William Berry were Co-Chairs. ABD and African American History Month Committee, and Rockland Community College were the organizers. Arts Council of Rockland (ACOR) provided a Decentralization grant which Fournier co-wrote with AAHMC Chair William Berry. Other funding sources were provided by Rockland Community College, NYSCA, and Orange & Rockland Utilities, Inc. which provided a grant specifically for the opening reception at Blue Hill Cultural Center. However, the multi-sited exhibition was held at various venues in the County: Rockland Community College, Rockland Center for the Arts (ROCA), (ex) Arts Alliance of Haverstraw (AAH!), Arts Council of Rockland, and Blue Hill Cultural Center.
This was an exhibition of 25 photographers, 5 lithographers and a sculptor. Each venue had a separate theme and exhibited various artists whose work addressed that theme. We were showing the diversity of African American photographers, lithographers and artists. Louis Draper's and John Vasser's photography were exhibited at the Arts Council of Rockland (ACOR) highlighting the theme of "History and Traditions: Views From the Street" with their accompanying bios.
The exhibition included a number of Kamoinge members: Budd, C.A. Williams, Shawn W. Walker, Louis H. Draper, Adger W. Cowans, Salimah Ali and Collette V. Fournier. The themes and venues were: "Documenting Life Cycles: Relationships Between Men and Women" at Rockland Community College; "Expanding the Boundaries of Spirituality, Belief and Movement" at Rockland Center for the Arts; "Family at Home and In the Diaspora" Arts Alliance of Haverstraw; "History and Traditions: View From the Street", and "There Is A World Through Our Eyes: Perceptions and Visions of the African American Photographer", which represented the work of all artists at Blue Hill Cultural Center.
