Physical description:

A small glazed ceramic horse figurine painted a fanciful turquoise not found in nature. The mane, tail and one hoof are painted grey. The horse rests on the ground in sternal recumbency with the left front leg extended. Its head is turned to look behind where it rests. The horse's ribs are visible on both sides. 46. Saranyu. The wife of Vivasat, the Hindu Sun god. She found the embraces of her husband too warm for endurance, and so, after having created a phantom likeness to fill her place, transformed herself into a mare, in which disguise she escaped from connubial embarrassments, and became the mother of twin deities, the Asvins.
