Physical description:

A small bisqueware horse with hair texture and musculature depicted in the molding. The mane, forelock, tail and hooves are painted a dark grey. The horse looks straight ahead and while standing upright and resting its left hind leg with the toe touching the ground. 40. Phrenicos. The horse, pre-eminent for its sagacity, of Hiero the First, tyrant of Syracuse (478-467 B. C.), which won the prize for single horses in the seventy-third Olympiad.
