- Full length portrait carte de visite of George W. Riggs. Photograph was taken at Whitehurst Studio in Washington D. C. Riggs is holding a briefcase and umbrella. 'Geo. W. Riggs' is penned below the photograph. On the reverse, a handwritten note by a niece of Sarah Tracy reads: Mr. Riggs of Washington D. C. beloved by all who knew him. His beautiful residence was known as a resort for distinguished men, especially members of the diplomatic corps. He was the most prominent banker of Washington. Two of his daughters married foreigners, one became a Mrs. Howard of the favored family known in Eng. history. Mr. R. a great friend of Aunty Sarah. M_____? I visited the family; I came down with measles at their home.
