Thomas Collyer at the Mount Vernon Wharf

Containers:
Box 1 - lantern slides
Creator:
Rau, William Herman, 1855-1920
Physical description:
Magic glass lantern slide of the Thos. Collyer passenger steamboat docked at the Mount Vernon landing. The slide's mount includes the following printed text, 'William H. Rau, Photographer, Philadelphia, Penna.' The reverse of the slides has a handwritten label which reads, 'No. 840 - Va. Mt. Vernon, steam boat landing.' The view shows a newly constructed landing completed by the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association in 1860. Although, Rau is taking credit as the photographer he obviously would have been far too young to have been the photographer of record.
