Johnson, Photographer, No. 317 Pa. Avenue, Washington, D. C. Only Authorized Publisher of Mt. Vernon Views. The label adhered on the reverse reads: Hallway in the Mansion at Mt. Vernon. Giving a view of the old stairway, and the clock upon the stair; also showing the ponderous old brass knocker on the west door, so often handled by Washington's distinguished guests. N. G. Johnson, Photographer, 426 7th St., Washington, D. C. Stamped in blue ink - Copyright 1880 by the Mount Vernon Association. A note penciled on the reverse reads, 'The key of the Bastille hangs on the wall...of the stairs.'
