A portion of the fireplace and terrestrial globe can be seen at far right. Mounted on orange board. The publisher's imprint on the front of the cardboard mount reads: N. G. Johnson, Photographer, 426 7th St., Washington, D. C. Only Authorized Publisher of Mount Vernon Views. A printed label adhered to the reverse reads: East Parlor, Mt. Vernon Mansion, In which stands the case for the exhibition of interesting relics of Washington, containing a bust of Washington, supposed to be the original by the French sculptor Houdon; his clothes, dress-sword, globe, and his Tripod with which he commenced life as a Surveyor.
