- Stereoscopic view of the west front of the Mansion from the bowling green. Stereograph is part of a series of views 'The home of Washington Illustrated,' created by photographer Alexander Gardner, 1866-1875. Gardner was contracted by the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association to create views of the estate to be sold by the Association. This stereograph is No. 12 of a set of 30 as indicated on the printed list found on the reverse of the card. Gardner creates sets of 10, 30, 40 and 45 views. Some of the images are repeated throughout the series. The date 'Mar. 28th '74' is penciled on the reverse.
