Text printed directly onto the reverse of the cardboard mount reads: LaFayette's Room, Mt. Vernon Mansion, So called in consequence of its having been occupied by General Lafayette when visiting Washington at Mt. Vernon. Copyright by the Mount Vernon Ladies' Union Association. Luke C. Dillon, Authorized Photographer, Office at Pullman's Gallery, 935 Penna. Avenue, Washington City, D. C. The curators at Mount Vernon have disproved Lafayette's stay in the room and have accordingly attributed an alternate room.
