Cabinet card of interior view of the blue room taken from the doorway towards the fireplace along the north wall. Text printed directly onto the reverse of the cardboard mount reads (printed upside down): New Jersey Room, Mount Vernon Mansion. LaFayette's Room, so called in consequence of its having been occupied by General LaFayette when visiting Washington at Mount Vernon. Copyright by the Mount Vernon Ladies' Union Association. Luke C. Dillon, Authorized Photographer, Office at Pullman's Gallery, 935 Penna. Avenue, Washington City, D. C. The curators at Mount Vernon have disproved Lafayette's stay in the room and have accordingly attributed an alternate room. Identical image taken by N. G. Johnson in 1880, it appears Dillon has reprinted under his name.
