- Black and white photographic print of delegates of the Republic of Liberia Centennial Commission gathered around to place a wreath at the obelisk memorial to Bushrod Washington next to the tomb at Mount Vernon. It was the anniversary of the death of Bushrod Washington, and their pilgrimage commemorated the fact that Bushrod was the first president of the American Colonization Society, whose proteges founded Liberia. Mount Vernon's Resident Superintendent Charles C. Wall stands at far left with Liberian Statesman H. Fayette Harmon placing the wreath and next to him is Mrs. Patricia Cassell, her son, and C. Abayomi Cassell, Attorney General of Liberia. The photographer's stamp on the reverse reads: Please credit Turner, Jr. Specialized Photographer, U. S. and Foreign Distribution, 1934 - 11th St. N. W., Washington 1, D. C., U.S.A.
