Physical description:
Black and white photographic print of the Virginia Building (replica of Mount Vernon) resting on supports in Santa Venetia, California. The replica was built for and featured at the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco in 1915. According to an article in the Petaluma Argus Courier (13 April 1928) - At the conclusion of the exposition the building was purchased by promoters of Santa Venetia, which was slated to be developed as a pleasure resort, and had the structure picked up and ferried from San Francisco to Santa Venetia. In the last few years the building had been allowed to fall into decay and was practically in ruins when finally a fire wiped it out on 12 April 1928.
