A.L.S. 3 pages. Eltham to Bruce Town. Informs him of death of their uncle [Burwell Bassett, Jr.] on Feb. 26--his last hours--he would have been 77 the 15th of this month--would have no doctor and no minister--wife very ill--informs G.F.W. that his uncle left a will and he [G.W.B.] is sole heir [see will dated Mar. 13, 1838]. Autograph letter signed, integral cover, postmarked by hand "Buchamsville Va March 7th," laminated. Name on original manuscript appears as "G. W. Bassett."
