Thanks for caps edging and calicoe--Mamma [Christian Blackburn] ill with ague and fever--they have all been sick--Mr. Craufurd has gone home--he will pay for necklace and locket--cautions her against excess of grief--they are trying without success to get [Ann] a servant. Autograph letter signed, laminated, cover laminated to letter, marked to go by "Stage," postmarked "Dumfries Oct [ ]," incomplete watermark. Name on original manuscript appears as "S. Craufurd."
