D.S. 2 pages. Accessioned as a "legal document" signed by Lawrence Washington and Henry Thoresby in 1615. Elizabethan handwriting makes it difficult to decipher the purpose of the document or the actual date. The signer is thought to be Lawrence Washington (d. 1616) of Sulgrave, England, grandfather of Colonel John Washington, the immigrant. However, it's possible the signer was Sir Lawrence Washington (1549-1619) who served as Registrar of His Majesty's Court of Chancery and great uncle of George Washington.
