This authorization for securities was sent by MVLA Vice Regents Mary Morris Hamilton and Margaret Comegys to MVLA Treasurer George W. Riggs. The Vice Regents acknowledge the loan of $400 by Riggs & Co. for repairs at Mount Vernon. They also authorize Riggs to place securities in the hands of the firm as a pledge for repayment of the loan.
