Also: "I was grieved to see in the last paper you had lost one of your servants in the snow--just before we left home Marion happenng to be out saw one of our men sitting down asleep. zit wasan intensely cold windy day and he was on his way to the field--I suppose had she not seen him, he would have frozen to death. He was well, but had been drinking."
