Correspondence related primarily to the publication of Hart's doctoral dissertation, 'The Valley of Virginia in the American Revolution,' his gift of the work to friends, which are often personal letters, and reviews of this book. There is also correspondence concerning his speaking engagements, his review of a book by Foner,bibliographic information provided for Who's Who in America, a teaching position, a chapter Hart wrote for a book about several Presbetyrian chuches in the Valley of Virginia, his position in the Rockbridge Historical Society, and personal letters.
