Thomas C. Dowd of writes to his sister to update her on local affairs. He mentions friends Ida and Noah Dunlap - specifically that he'd been at "muster" and Noah Dunlap was elected captain. He mentions his family, specifically daughter "Marry" (Mary) and brother Albert. Dowd became a member of the 3rd North Carolina Infantry and later 3rd North Carolina Cavalry.
