A letter to Francis McFarland dated April 30, 1863 from his son James McFarland when he was in a battlefield near Massapanasi Creek in Virginia. He wrote the letter before going into battle. A letter to Francis McFarland dated May 4, 1863 from his son James McFarland describing his war experiences since the last letter he had written home (April, 30, 1863). A letter to Francis McFarland dated January 11, 1863 from his son James McFarland when he was at Camp Wington. A letter to Francis McFarland dated March 26, 1863 from his son James McFarland when he was at Camp Winder.
