Biographical / historical:

Scott McCabe of the Riverside/Buena Vista area of Rockbridge County, Virginia was born in September 1895 in Virginia. He was the son of John McCabe and Lorinda Elizabeth Whitesides. Scott married a local Virginia resident named Iris Louise Painter. He passed away on June 5, 1982 at the age of 86. Because he was a veteran who served as a Private in the U.S. Army during World War I, he is buried in the Crownsville Veterans Cemetery in Anne Arundel County, Maryland (located in Section 2F2, Row 16, Site 17).

James Frank McCutchen was born on March 16, 1865, in Summerdean, Augusta County, Virginia to George William McCutcheon and Emma Jane Kurtz McCutcheon. James was a member of the Class of 1889 at the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia. He matriculated October 6, 1885 from Craigsville, Virginia and dropped from the Rolls circa 1886. Following his time at VMI, he lived in Augusta County and later passed away on November 23, 1911. He was a cousin of Emma Beard.

Drucilla Margaret McGuffin (1843–1916) was the daughter of Thomas H. McGuffin and Ann Wilson from Augusta County, Virginia. On July 28, 1864, she married Thomas Jefferson Copper (1831–1902). They raised a very large family in the South River district of Rockbridge, Virginia.

Miss McGuffin, a sister of Drucilla McGuffin, was either Nancy McGuffin or Hannah M. McGuffin, who married a Shewey.
