Captain Vernon C. Honsinger enlisted in the Navy in 1951 and served for 30 years. Among his many assignments were those of Operations Officer and Chief Engineer on the USS Laffey (DD 724) in the Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea, and Weapons Officer and Assistant Engineering Officer on the USS Seadragon (SSN 584), Pacific Ocean.
