Colonel James G. Kyser, a United States Naval Academy graduate, had a distinguished career in the Marines Corps from 1985 to 2009. His many deployments included Desert Shield and Desert Storm (1990-1991), special operations missions in Europe and Africa, and the Iraq War. Kyser retired in July 2009 after 24 years of service.
