Biographical / historical:

Lieutenant Colonel Lee S. Dewald served on active duty with the United States Army from 1969 to 1992. His military service included time as a Brigade Assistant (Operations), 3rd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, Vietnam, during which he planned combat intelligence operations for two air cavalry troops, a ranger company, and was involved in many other intelligence-related assignments. Dewald also was a Professor of Applied Mathematics at VMI, retiring in 2017.
