Biographical / historical:

A decorated veteran of World War II, William H. Wills was born in 1919 in New York City. He joined the United States Army in October 1940 and was assigned to the First Infantry Division, First Engineer Combat Battalion, B Company. Wills served for the entire war, fighting in North Africa, Tunisia, Sicily (Italy), and taking part in the D-Day landing on Omaha Beach (France). He subsequently fought in the Battle of the Bulge and ended the War in Czechoslovakia. After the War he served for 27 years as an officer with the New York City Police Department.
