Biographical / historical:

Charles S. Brooks, a native of North Carolina, was drafted in May 1943. Following stateside service with an Anti-Aircraft Artillery (AAA) unit, he was shipped to Europe where he was assigned to Company A, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Division. He served as a first scout until the end of World War II.
