Recalls training in the German Navy as a switchboard operator and experiences at Brest, France during the Normandy invasion, June 1944; his capture by Americans in October, shipment to Cherbourg, France and German counterattack in December (Battle of the Bulge). Describes shipment to a POW camp in England and later to the United States.
