Bailey's Crossroads Area, The collapse of the central portion of the Skyline Plaza building in Bailey's Crossroads in Fairfax County, VA. The tower collapsed during construction on March 2, 1973, killing 14 people and injuring 34 others. The cause of the collapse was later determined to be due to supports being removed too soon after the pouring of the concrete floors., 1973
