The General Files subseries is housed in twenty-five archival boxes and is arranged in alphabetical order. This subseries consists of supporting documentation maintained in the Lieutenant Governor's Office as background material for legislation and various social & political issues. Noteworthy are the files related to the budget, education, environment, healthcare, redistricting, and transportation. Also significant are files pertaining to Hurricane Isabel, public safety, standards of learning (SOLs), and waste management. The subseries contains correspondence, reports, memorandums, publications, presentations, legislation, minutes, agendas, news clippings, speeches, and other sundry items.
