- Scope and content:
-
Black and white photograph, group portrait of Washington Historic Touring Club on visit to Franciscan Monastery. A large group of people, most of whom appear to be teenagers, are posed standing outside of the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land in America. The men and boys who have hats hold the hats in their hands. The Monastery, a light colored building inset with arch windows, occupies much of the background, and a statue of Saint Christopher carrying a young boy [presumably the Christ child] towers over the crowd. Handwritten note in the lower left corner reads "WASH HISTORIC TOURING CLUB, CARDOZA SCHOOL WASH. D.C., OUTING TO FRANCISCAN MONASTERY MAY 2, 1937, GEO. H. WALLACE Pres. J. FRANCIS GREGORY Inst." Handwritten note in the lower right reads "J. HENRY WRIGHT, WASH. D.C." Photograph is dated 2 May 1937
