This collection contains the genealogy and local history research materials of E. Louise Righman.

The material is organized into three series:

Series 1 includes family genealogies compiled by Righman. These items were arranged into binders and boxes, all labeled by surname, and arranged as defined collections of family-specific information. Most file groupings contain items like newspaper clippings, descendant lists, birth and death notices, headstone information, funeral programs, marriage notices, family photographs, pedigree charts, family history manuscripts, correspondence with descendants, military service records, etc.

Series 2 includes a small amount of local history research materials, including published local history books and booklets and groupings of materials about local landmarks, community organizations, and more.

Series 3 includes supporting research materials used in compiling the more complete family genealogy binders/boxes. These files include similar material to series 1 and are often labeled by surname, region, or subject matter, as well as several books that informed Righman's research methods.
 </scopecontent>
