The bulk of the material documents everyday life of Mrs. Martin's sisters, Mary Lee and Aretas Eudora Hicks. The former was a high school home economics teacher in Colorado, and the latter a home economics teacher at West Liberty State College, West Virginia. The correspondence of Mary Lee Hicks relates to her personal and professional life, covering her illness, marriages, and formal education.
